2023 IEEE West Coast Leadership Summit

As an initiative to empower and support young professionals, students and women, IEEE WIE, YP, and SFU student branch of the Vancouver section are hosting a one-day summit of networking with industry professionals and academia. This event includes panels of industry leaders and academia discussing Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Future Technologies, and Innovation. The event also focuses on sharing the experience of life coaches and professional leaders on Personal Development and Professional Networking with STEM young professionals and students to develop their leadership and networking skills.

Skytrain Operations and Maintenance Centre Tour

Join IEEE SFU Student Branch, Young Professionals, and Circuits and Systems Society in a tour to the SkyTrain Operations and Maintenance Centre (OMC) on March 19th at 12:45 PM.

Attendees are welcomed to bring their own personal protective equipment (PPE): safety vest and safety glasses. Open-toed and hi-heeled shoes are not permitted.

Members of the IEEE around the world will celebrate IEEE Day on Tuesday Oct. 4th, 2016.  The SFU Student Branch Members will join the Vancouver Section on IEEE Day, as they join in the world wide celebrations to raise awareness of IEEE among the general public.

IEEE International Field Trip to Munich and Italy info session:

The IEEE International Field Trip is here again and this year, we will be visiting Munich and Italy!

There will be a quick info session about previous IEEE International Field Trips to help give you a better idea of what the trips entail.

The info session will be held on Thursday, March 3rd at 3pm in ASB 8836

The trip will run from the 1st to 12th of May, and some of the companies and universities we will be visiting are:
BMW - Rohde & Schwarz - Technical University of Munich - ST Microelectronics - Politecnico di Milano-SaFCo - ANav

The cost of the trip including a return ticket and accommodation is $1900, to be paid in full by 11:59PM on the 15th of March, 2016. Payment instructions will be sent out to those selected to go on the trip.

To apply, send your full name, year/major, resume and a brief paragraph stating why you will like to go on this trip before 11:59PM on Tuesday March 8th, 2016.

Overview of the Event

Think Engineering is the 8th annual networking event organized and hosted by the IEEE Student Branches at UBC, SFU, and BCIT. Our aim is to connect and engage students in Greater Vancouver with industry representatives.

Registration

This is a great opportunity for you as an engineering student (UBC, SFU, BCIT) to improve your communication skills, build your professional network and meet potential employers. (What more can I say, ask someone who’s attended the event in the previous years, this is an event you definitely will WANT to attend. The benefits strongly outweigh the costs.)
